8 Days of Giving

If you thought December was the month of giving, you thought right. Here are 16 fighters who would like to give out a very special ass beating this holiday season.

1. GEORGES ST-PIERRE VS. JOSH KOSCHECK 2
UFC 124: Dec. 11

Canada vs. America. Civility vs. Surliness. Abs vs. Hair. However you want to cut it, the UFC Welterweight Title is up for grabs, and there is no love lost between the combatants. GSP and Kos will finally settle their differences in Montreal.

2. BENSON HENDERSON VS. ANTHONY PETTIS
WEC 53: Dec. 16

Not only is Henderson’s WEC Lightweight Championship on the line, but so is an immediate title shot in the UFC against the winner of Edgar/Maynard. The WEC’s swansong will leave one man with a golden UFC opportunity.

3. DOMINICK CRUZ VS. SCOTT JORGENSEN
WEC 53: Dec. 16

Cruz defends his WEC Bantamweight Championship against Jorgensen, who brings a five-fight winning streak to the table. “The Dominator” will need to stay on his toes and work the angles to keep Jorgensen’s wrestling at bay.

4. DAN HENDERSON VS. RENATO SOBRAL
Strikeforce: Dec. 4

Sobral has been waiting 10 years to get another crack at Henderson, who beat “Babalu” by majority decision in 2000. Does 40-year-old “Dangerous” Dan have enough gas in the tank to unleash that famous right hand one more time?

5. THIAGO ALVES VS. JOHN HOWARD
UFC 124: Dec. 11

Alves is coming off back-to back losses to GSP and Jon Fitch, while Howard is looking to rebound from a TKO loss at the hands of Jake Ellenberger in August. Both thoroughbreds have a penchant for standing in the pocket and throwing bombs.

6. RICK STORY VS. JOHNY HENDRICKS
TUF 12 Finale: Dec. 4

Hendricks puts his undefeated record (9-0) on the line against Story, who has reeled off four consecutive UFC victories. Asking Story to overcome Hendricks’ wrestling pedigree and seemingly impenetrable beard is a tall order.

7. JIM MILLER VS. CHARLES OLIVEIRA
UFC 124: Dec. 11

Oliveira turned a lot of heads in September with his submission victory over Efrain Escudero. However, Miller will not be easily intimidated, as he takes a five-fight UFC winning streak into the cage.

8. ROBBIE LAWLER VS. MATT LINDLAND
Strikeforce: Dec. 4

Lindland is going to need every bit of his 40-year-old cage savvy to pull out a victory against Lawler, who hopes to negate the old man’s takedowns and clinch work with his “Ruthless” striking.
