On Weds., Strikeforce announced that their former Lightweight Champion, Josh Thomson (#11 Lightweight) will travel to Japan to face Tatsuya “Crusher” Kawajiri (#18) at DREAM Dynamite!! 2010 on New Year’s Eve.
The lightweights last lost to current Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Gilbert Melendez and current DREAM Lightweight Champion Shinya Aoki, respectively.
“I’ve wanted this fight forever,’’ Thomson is quoted as saying in the press release. “He’s somebody that excites me.’’
Already confirmed for DREAM’s Dec. 31 show are a Featherweight Championship bout between Bibiano Fernandes (#3) and Hiroyuki Takaya (#8) and a Welterweight Championship bout between Marius Zaromskis and Kazushi Sakuraba. View the still-developing fight card here.
